AI Scares Me – and That’s a Good Thing

AI scares me. Not the robots-take-over kind of fear. Something more personal.

For years I had a comfortable set of excuses. I lacked the right opportunity. The right conditions. The right experience. Each one let me off the hook.

AI took every excuse away.

Today I have a mentor, a guide, a tireless helper on call at 2 a.m. I ship faster than I ever have. And yet I’m fighting the exact same internal battles I always did. It turns out the missing ingredient was never the tools. It was me.

That’s the scary part. I’m not competing with AI, or even with other people. I’m competing with my own ego — the part of me that preferred a good excuse to a hard try.

Here’s the twist: this is a good thing. When you can’t blame your circumstances, all that’s left is to actually do the work. AI is quietly forcing all of us to get better, take on harder problems, and make sharper decisions.

The future isn’t something to fear. It’s ours to build. So what’s left standing in your way once the excuses are gone?
